The No Bin Bags Charter

A National Voice believes that children and young people should not have to move within, or leaving Care with their possessions in bin bags. They should be provided with suitable luggage or a suitcase by their placing authority. We request a “no bin bag policy” be put in place and that except in real emergency placements no child or young person is given bin bags again.

We will then send you the charter, to be signed and returned by post. This charter is not legally binding, but we take it to be a strong commitment towards abandoning the use of bin bags when moving Looked-After Children and expect participating Local Authorities to take full responsibility for ensuring that it is enforced.
